Scope and Contents

This sub-series includes books and periodicals related to Chinese American artist Frederick Ronald Eng. Most of the materials collected include Eng's photographs, illustrations, and drawings. One book is about the recent history of Tivoli, NY, where Eng moved with his wife from NYC after WWII.

The sub-series also includes a vinyl record album titled "Buy Buy Baby".

Biographical / Historical

Fred R Eng (1917-1995) was born Ng Quong You in Namchieu, China, and moved to the US with family at the age of three. After graduating from the California College of the Arts and Crafts in San Francisco, Eng moved to NYC to seek a career as a commercial artist. Eng joined the military during WWII and briefly worked on military mapping. His after-war life was filled with illustration projects and later, photography works.
