Scope and Contents

This collection consists of newspaper clippings, one menu, and Chinese New Year envelopes. The newspaper clippings are mostly from the 1930s-1940s (although some are undated), and most of them are from Baltimore newspapers or include stories or photographs about Baltimore. A few clippings have accompanying articles, but most of them are just photographs. All of the clippings are original copies of articles/photographs about Chinese Americans and Chinese visiting the United States, as in Madame Chiang Kai-Shek's visit to the US in 1943. In addition, there are a number of small pink and red Chinese New Year envelopes, and one menu from Oriental Inn, possibly a restaurant in Baltimore. Biographical / Historical

Unfortunately, there is no background information on Edith Ong, but she was most likely from Baltimore since many of the newspaper clippings include photographs in Baltimore or have been taken from Baltimore newspapers.
