Scope and Contents

This collection consists of 33 audiocassette tapes of oral histories conducted from 1997-1998 and 2003. Most of the interviews are compiled on two cassettes, although not all. All of the interviews have been digitized.

Clarence Lee collection

This collections consists of two commemorative plaques; paper documents on the life of Clarence Lee; prints of Lee's artwork on stamps; and 150 signed copies of Lee's 1999 Year of the Hare commemorative stamp. Coaching books collection

Scope and Contents Thus far, this collection contains five coaching books, all in Chinese. One book, written in calligraphy, is for the Tam family. Another book, handwritten, is for the Huang family, possibly for the wife of the person mentioned in the Tam book. Only two books appear to be dated, one of which is from the Toy or Loy Young family; it includes an envelope from an Edmond Toy in Chicago to a Chester Loy Young in Kwangtung, China, and the envelope is postmarked 1947. David Lewis Hammarstrom Collection

Scope and Contents

This collection consists of xeroxed background research, correspondences, interview excerpts, audio tapes with full interviews with cast members, and draft and published versions of Hammarstrom's book. The background research contains literature and clippings relating the "Flower Drum Song" shows. The correspondences are between Hammarstrom and the publisher and interviewees. The interview excerpts were intended for usage in the published book.
